Во время И. происходят сложные метаболические и гемодинамические нарушения, следствием которых являются локальные морфологические изменения в ткани мозга. В клинической практике выделяют группу так называемых малых инсультов, при которых очаговая неврологическая симптоматика хотя и сохраняется более 24 ч, но затем полностью регрессирует в период до 3 нед. с момента ее появления.По материалам ВОЗ, частота новых случаев И. в течение года колеблется в разных странах от 1,27 до 7,4 на 1000 населения. Почти в половине случаев И. возникает в возрасте до 60 лет, 75% перенесших И. полностью утрачивают работоспособность. Смертность от И. в экономически развитых странах составляет около 12% общей смертности.В зависимости от локализации различают церебральные (в головном мозге) и спинальные (в спинном мозге) инсульты.По характеру патологического процесса И. разделяют на геморрагические, ишемические и смешанные.
